Alma Rec Soccer/Ball Field Improvement Fund

Specific Need

Soccer was recently added as a sport available through the Alma Recreation Department. In its second season over 80 boys and girls from Pre-K through 5th grade signed up and participated. The need for permanent fields has become a priority and the hope is to begin ASAP on the dirt work to create three soccer fields suitable for our age groups just north of the existing tennis courts at McKnight Park in Alma. In addition, a storage shed is needed for tennis and soccer equipment. Concrete pathways and appropriate drainage is also needed.

Profile

Currently, the McKnight Park Complex consists of:

- One softball field (used for Wabaunsee High School & summer ball)

- One baseball field (used for Wabaunsee High School & summer ball)

- 9-hole disc golf course

- 4 tennis courts (two new in Summer 2024)

- dated concession building with restrooms

- practice field (mainly used for t-ball practices)

- non-permanent soccer fields (that are too small compared to the suggested size for playing)

Improvement funds at McKnight Park Complex would help:

- add permanent regulation size soccer fields

- walkways

- storage shed for tennis and soccer supplies

- drainage

- existing ball field improvements

- building improvements
